Affiliations for Faculty and Students

The Joukowsky Institute encourages both formal and informal collaborations with faculty and students throughout Brown University.

Academic Faculty

The Academic Faculty are scholars who are deeply committed to advising and teaching in the Archaeology and the Ancient World graduate and undergraduate degree programs. Many of the Academic Faculty are directly appointed into the Joukowsky Institute and arrive with cross-appointments to other units on campus. Others become Academic Faculty when their research and teaching aligns with the mission of the Joukowsky Institute and after they have demonstrated significant service to the Institute, especially its degree programs. 

Faculty Fellows

Faculty Fellows are faculty engaged in teaching, research, and other synergistic activities that support the mission of the Joukowsky Institute. Faculty Fellows have their appointments in other units on campus but nevertheless regularly participate in activities connected to the Joukowsky Institute.

Faculty Affiliates

Faculty Affiliates are permanent and non-permanent faculty in other units at Brown University whose teaching and research complement the mission of the Joukowsky Institute’s mission.

Graduate Student Fellows

Students with archaeological and/or ancient world interests in other degree programs are invited to become Graduate Student Fellows of the Joukowsky Institute.  Graduate Student Fellows regularly attend events at the Joukowsky Institute and are provided access to some of its resources and facilities.
