Applications for admission in Fall 2025 are due on December 15, 2024.
Students applying to the program typically have completed undergraduate or master's degrees within the past one to three years, and are now hoping to continue their studies of Mediterranean archaeology. Brown's Graduate School guarantees six years of full funding for every admitted student. Graduates of our doctoral program have gone on to tenure-track or lecturer jobs, postdoctoral fellowships, and visiting positions at universities all over the world, as well as curatorial jobs in museums, government positions, professional journalism, and education administration.
Successful applicants to the program tend to have strong transcripts and demonstrated fieldwork experience, compelling research interests, and often additional experience in museums, non-profits, or other related professional environments. We seek students who are both independent and open minded, and who will benefit from our interdisciplinary approach.
Applications to Ph.D. programs at Brown University are submitted to and managed through the Graduate School.
